Gum Recontouring – Lincoln, NE
Show Your Best Smile with Healthy Gums
A beautiful smile is well balanced and appropriately proportioned between the gums and tooth enamel. When that balance is thrown off, it can make your teeth appear smaller and less attractive. In some cases, the gum tissue overwhelms the enamel and creates what is often called a “gummy smile.” Luckily, our team here at Pioneer Greens Dentistry offers a simple solution—gum recontouring. This relatively pain-free procedure corrects the appearance of the gums to ensure a more balanced smile. If you are interested in this treatment, reach out to us and schedule a consultation!

What is Gum Recontouring?
Gum recontouring is a cosmetic procedure in which we remove tiny slivers of excess gum tissue in order to alter the position of the gum line. Using a soft tissue laser, which cauterizes as it severs the tissue, we are able to carefully adjust the gums all while causing very little bleeding or discomfort.
What is Gum Recontouring Used For?
Unlike gum disease therapy, which removes infected gum tissue, gum recontouring is purely cosmetic. We take away just enough healthy gum tissue to expose the right amount of enamel for a more balanced look. Because of the technology we use, you can expect to experience little to no discomfort whatsoever. In fact, many patients do not require local anesthetic at all!
What are the Benefits of Gum Recontouring?
Gum recontouring includes some obvious advantages over some other cosmetic treatments. For example, it quickly reduces the appearance of a gummy smile and shows more of the hidden tooth structure, giving you more confidence to let your teeth show when you speak and smile. The procedure itself is comfortable, and you do not have to worry about a long recovery. Many times, we are able to complete this treatment in one appointment, and you can leave our office with a newly updated smile.
Understanding the Cost of Gum Recontouring
The cost of treatment will vary from patient to patient. While one may only require recontouring in a couple of spots, another may need to have their entire smile recontoured. We personalize treatment according to your unique goals and situation, making it hard to give an estimate for treatment without first conducting an oral exam. Once we get a clearer idea of your smile and what you’d like to accomplish, we can give you an accurate estimate for your treatment.
