Frequently Asked Dental Questions – Lincoln, NE

Have Questions? We Have Answers!

Patient education is really important here at Pioneer Greens Dentistry, because the more someone knows about their oral health and treatment options, the healthier they usually are! That’s why we’re always happy to answer any questions you might have, and below, we’ve already answered some of the most common ones we receive every day. Be sure to give us a call if you have any other questions!

When should I get a checkup and cleaning?

The American Dental Association recommends that people of all ages should attend at least two checkups and cleanings each year, averaging one visit about every six months. This ensures that minor problems are caught early and treated quickly, which will go a long way in helping a patient preserve their teeth over time.

One of my teeth really hurts. What should I do?

If cleaning around the tooth doesn’t solve the problem (sometimes minor toothaches can be caused by a piece of food being stuck between the teeth), then you may have a cavity or crack in the enamel. Take an OTC medication and give our dental office a call so we can schedule an appointment right away. That way, we can treat the problem before it becomes worse.

Which is best—a bridge, denture, or dental implants?

The answer to this question really depends on the patient, but in most cases, our team would highly recommend dental implants for any patient who wants to replace their missing teeth. Right now, implants are the only restoration that brings back an entire tooth, and they are the next best thing to real teeth when it comes to both looks and stability. However, to figure out which option would be best for your particular situation, you need to come see us for a one-on-one consultation.

Do store-bought teeth whitening treatments actually work?

If by “work” you mean “barely whiten your teeth,” then yes, they definitely work! Most kits at the store are extremely weak and won’t make much of a difference in the color of your smile, which is why we recommend our patients always opt for professional whitening instead. The bleaching gel we use in our dental office is much stronger and more effective at breaking up tough stains than anything you can buy on your own, and when it’s applied by our team, we’re able to maximize results while reducing any post-treatment sensitivity as well. With us, your smile will both look and feel great.

Will you take my dental insurance?

Our dental office is in-network with Delta Dental Premier, and BCBS, but we’re happy to work with several out-of-network plans as well. No matter who your provider might be, we can almost guarantee we will be able to use your plan to help you save at your next appointment. To learn more, give us a call today.

I do not have dental insurance. Is there another way to make my care more affordable?

Yes! You can sign up for our In-House Membership Plan. For one low flat fee, you can cover your basic dental care for the entire year and gain access to a 20% discount on all other treatments. Our plan offers many of the same benefits as traditional insurance, but there are no deductibles, annual maximums, or phone trees. If you ever have a question about the plan, you can always call our dental office, and we will be able to help right away. To learn more and how to enroll, give us a call.
